About Dr. Greg Gorman

No stuffy white coat here – you’re most likely to encounter Dr. Greg in a free-moving T-shirt and denim, the “uniform” that accommodates taking your body through a range of gentle motions using Active Release Technique in combination with Chiropractic adjustments.

“I use a holistic approach,” says Dr. Greg as his patients call him, “because I experienced for myself that a static, one-size-fits-all method will rarely meet all the challenges created by an active lifestyle.”

“Spending more time with each patient is the best way I know to ensure rapid recovery.”

Finding Answers in Chiropractic

As an active 17-year old he experienced headaches and pain in his jaw from TMJ disorder, but found no relief from a dentist or orthodontist. After years of treatment, tooth extractions and braces, he was introduced to a chiropractor who quickly helped reduce and then eliminate the pain.

“After those first adjustments,” Greg recounts, “I had a greater connection to my body and could move in a way I had never known before. I discovered what it was like to feel good and be out of pain, and I started wanting to exercise more. That was a totally new experience for me.”

Following college and a move to San Francisco, his experiences led him to take a job as an office manager for a chiropractor. There he witnessed first-hand what a chiropractor did on a daily basis. “I began to think, I could do this, and would really enjoy it.”

Then one day in the waiting room a new patient smiled up at him and said, ‘Oh, are you the doctor?’

“In that moment,” he recalls “I thought ‘No, but I probably could be’” Within a year he was training to become a Doctor of Chiropractic.

Complimentary Approaches

In addition to his D.C. degree, Dr. Greg received advanced anatomy and biomechanics training that exceeds that of most M.D.’s. He has completed full body certification in Active Release Techniques,  Selective Functional Movement Assessment Level 1 and Upledger Cranio-Sacral Therapy. His interest in movement of the body led him to complete a 200-hour Ashtanga yoga teacher training, and he now practices yoga six days a week.

“All of this has deepened my understanding of the body,” reflects Greg, “and has greatly enhanced my ability to provide care to my patients.”

Greg Gorman is a great doctor. I work with many healthcare practitioners in many fields of medicine, and few have the combination of knowledge, skill, intuition, and caring that Greg has. Having referred many patients with difficult and painful conditions to Greg, I know just how effective his treatments are.
